This week is transfers (if you weren't able to tell by the lack of an email from me on Monday). Sister Earl and I are both staying in the Brunswick 2nd ward! Hallelujah! It was a close call. We thought that she might have been transferred but God is blessing us to stay together for at least one more transfer! There was definitely some celebration going on when we heard our names on the conference call.
We have had some rain this week. Oh my word. We have had some rain. And some thunderstorms. Some HUGE thunderstorms.
This week was absolutely nuts. We had some things happen that we had to work through and so we didn't really feel like missionaries for half the week! Tuesday we spent most of the day in Jacksonville. Then went to Hilliard where the senior couple in our zone lives. We went tracting with them and helped them to find some new investigators. It was so much fun! They are seriously one of the cutest couples! THEN, I stayed the night St. Mary's. Nope, I did not have any clothes, pajamas, bathroom stuff, anything. And the next morning we woke up, got ready (I changed from the pajamas that one of the sisters let me borrow and put on the same outfit I had worn the day before, hah!). Then we went to zone meeting and Sister Earl and I presented a training that we had about 10 minutes to talk about. It was an adventure! Woah. It was crazy, but it was fun. Also, on Wednesday we also had lunch with a part member family who we haven't been able to see in a few weeks. It was great!
Friday was a pretty eventful day! We took a member out with us. She is REALLY excited about missionary work. She is also very bold and says whatever she is thinking. She came with us to see our (not) Atheist investigator, Richard. When we walked in his father (who we found out was intoxicated) pointed at us and told us that he was just thinking about us and that he has a question. We were talking to him and all of a sudden he got up and popped in the Restoration DVD. What? We did not give them a restoration DVD! Hah! He told us that he had watched it twice today. It was such a funny and interesting experience. He might have been taught by missionaries before. Sister Hoge then got everyone sat down for a lesson. It is really hard to explain exactly what happened. She really wanted to take charge of the lesson. We had to reign her in a little bit. She ended up having a good conversation with our Richard's dad while we talked to Richard. Oh my. A miraculous thing is occurring. Richard cut his hair, he is dressing cleaner, he is smiling more, he is happy, he talks clearer and carries himself so much differently than when we first met him. It truly is amazing to see! When we asked him if he had prayed he said that he "felt compelled to"!!! Wow. Also, this week we invited Richard to come to a Family Home Evening at a member's home. He came and he loved it!
Friday night we also got a call from one of our investigators whose car had broke down. We found her and called a member to come and look at her car. It was a tender mercy from Heavenly Father that when she was in trouble she thought to call the missionaries.
Saturday was round 2 of the yard work for one of our potential investigators. Oh my, I thought that last Saturday I sweated a lot....Anyway, we had announced the service project in ward council and invited everyone and a member made a Facebook event and some ward members actually ended up coming to help, including the elders quorum president and one of his councilors! Unfortunately one of them got stung by a wasp...but he had a good attitude about it! Then the next day the EQP was so friendly to us! Service seriously softens hearts. For the ones serving and the ones being served. It is also helping us to build up the trust with the members :)
Yesterday (Monday), was a great day. We picked up some trash on the side of the road, met with a couple recent converts, had a great lesson with one of our investigators who is planning on being baptized this month, and a lesson with one of our Facebook investigators! Then we finished up the night with the transfer call and found out that Sister Earl and I are both staying here in Brunswick, Georgia!
