This has been a glorious week! We started our week strong! We taught two lessons with a member. The first one was with jamie and you could say it wasn't the best lesson we've taught. Considering the fact that her dog threw up in the middle of the lesson. On the bright side the member bore a great testimony! The 2nd one was with Virginia (lady that asked us to cut her grass with scissors.) It was a great lesson because we got to teach the restoration & she had a lot of questions. She's a substitute teacher so she kept getting calls of job offers & then they would call again to cancel. So you can say it was a wave of emotions plus the fact that she kept getting scared by her loud ringtone. Overall she felt the spirit & was still open to come back to church.
The rest of the week was filled with tons of driving. We went down to Jacksonville for zone conference which was great! Our car passed inspections! It's was so good to see some other missionaries & our lovely sisters. Our main focuses were becoming master teacher as we teach by the spirit & working with members. Sister Craig also gave a powerful training about how alma 5 applies to us personally as disciples of Christ. Probably 90% of the room was in tears. Then came the trade off! Sister Kasteler went to Waycross with sister smith who has been out for only one transfer. We got to do some service for the member & found a few potential investigators. She went to the middle school I student taught at! She is really great! Sister Herrera & sister Hillman headed to Brunswick. On the way there we kinda wrecked our car (don't worry it was a very minor wreck) BUT it's ok because we had duct tape & that's how we do it in the south!
On Thursday we faced our fears and tracted at night! The lord blessed with some great potential people. Friday we drive down to Jacksonville again for a last minute MLC. Elder soares (of the seventy) decided to come down! We had amazing training about keeping our fishing line in the water & setting goals. He also talked about how as missionaries we have been foreordained to be here because God knew we were capable of doing the work that he requires. It was very a very uplifting meeting! Then we headed back to brunswick for "First Friday". We had planned to have a family history table. A few ward members and all the other sisters in Brunswick helped to make it happen! It was so fun to talk to a lot of people about their families and we even got a few who wanted help getting started. This gave us a chance to learn what we can do better next time.
Saturday we had some great service! We did some painting & sanding. Sunday we had a wonderful sabbath! We got the chance to teach in relief society about missionary work. We had a lot of participation from the sisters which was great! There's wasn't enough time but it turned out pretty well. We also had a miracle! Before our finding hour We set an inspired goal of giving a Book of Mormon out & getting a return appointment. Turns out the 2nd door we knocked was a pretty elect lady! She told us that she wonders if she is doing enough. She is really sweet! She accepted a BOM & wanted us to come back. God is good!
We have been thinking a lot about our ward and what they need. We came across elder christopherson talk in general conference and how we are responsible for our own conversion. We become more converted as we do the small and simple things such as reading the scriptures daily, praying as a family, attending church, temple, etc. As we do these thing our testimonies grow & we build a stronger foundation in christ. Inevitable this blesses us with an increased desire to share the gospel. It's interesting to think about our own lives and what we can to do these small things even better so that we can be better prepared for when the savior comes. Hurrah for Israel! We love you!
